Life Lately #4: Cruising Around the City of Angels
We came for Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Night and stay for Venice Beach’s unparalleled bohemian vibe. Driving several hours just to get the scare of our lives might sound crazy. But for horror fans like us, it was well worth it. And to be honest, I live for road trips as you might have noticed through my visual diary of my Italy trip. So it was a very exciting time on the road with my cousins. We left at around twelve midnight and we took a detour to Temecula so visit family before finally arriving in Los Angeles.
Halloween Horror Nights was a killer. Literally. My legs were so sore by the end of the day. I swear, my granny legs were not fit to end an entire day at a theme park at twelve midnight. But it was an epic day nonetheless. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was hand down my favorite ride. Among the horror mazes, it would have to be Titans of Terror. The heart-pounding maze featured Jason, Freddy, Leatherface, and Chucky who chase you about with every weapon imaginable even chainsaws!
The next day we explored downtown Los Angeles and its beautiful coastal towns. Although to me, the Hollywood Walk of Fame felt less stellar than how it’s usually made out to be. Venice Beach was a completely different story. As I said on one of my Instagram posts “Places named Venice is always a good idea.” This Venice is definitely a very good idea. Its free-spirited atmosphere just throbs at full force. And you can definitely feel it with the throngs of bohemian lovers set out to enjoy the unconventional beach promenade.
Santa Monica Pier was equally stunning and just solidified what I already knew. Los Angeles is definitely the fitness and nutrition capital of the United States. Pockets of outdoor gyms line the beachfront and bike, skateboard, surfboard, and rollerblade rentals fill the entire promenade. People love working out here! Where else to better break a sweat than by the beach, right? And the waves are just perfect for both novice surfers and pros. Also, the seafood? Just simply spectacular! Dining at The Albright is definitely a must try when visiting Santa Monica.
